Indigo Row

Indigo Row is a denim label: mini skirts, caps and hats, and one running trainer.

The skirts come in two washes — raw indigo and a pale washed denim — both in rigid cotton that softens with wear. Cotton caps and a packable bucket hat round it out.

Hats

Cotton twill that folds flat into a bag.

Two washes, one fabric

Both skirts are cut from the same rigid cotton denim. The difference is what happens to it afterwards: the raw indigo goes straight from the loom to the pattern, while the pale version is stone washed before it is cut, which takes out most of the stiffness and about two shades of colour.

Raw indigo fades where you fold — the hem, the front of the thigh, the back pocket — so it ends up marked by how you wear it. The washed version starts soft and stays close to the colour you bought.

  • Rigid cotton denim, no stretch in either wash.
  • Raw indigo softens over roughly two weeks of wear.
  • The pale wash is ready to wear from the first day.
  • Both skirts are cut 34 to 44, measured at the waistband.

Before you order

Rigid cotton denim is stiff at first and softens over the first few wears. It does not stretch, so take your usual waist measurement rather than sizing down.

Wash cold, inside out, and dry flat. Washing warm is what fades indigo fastest.

Some colour transfers from raw denim in the first few wears, particularly onto pale bags and light seats. It stops after the first cold wash.
