Saga & Stone makes heavy cotton sweatshirts and midi skirts.

The sweatshirts come three ways — crew neck, waffle knit and zip-up hooded — in cotton heavy enough to keep its shape after a winter of washing. Skirts are cut to midi length in tiered cotton or pleated satin.

• Heavy loopback cotton, brushed on the inside.
• Ribbed cuffs and hems that hold their shape.
• Full-grain leather belts and card wallets in the same colours.

The sweatshirt fabric is loopback cotton at 400 grams a square metre, roughly twice the weight of a t-shirt. It is stiff for the first few wears and softens on the inside while the outside face stays flat, which is what stops the shoulders sagging.

The waffle knit is lighter and made for wearing indoors or under the hooded style. All three are cut with a straight body and set-in sleeves, so they sit the same way after washing as they did new.

• Sweatshirts run XS to XXL and fit true to size.
• Skirts run 34 to 44, measured at the waistband.
• The tiered skirt has an elasticated waist with about 6 cm of give.
• Wash cotton warm, tumble dry low, and the pattern allows for the small shrink that follows.
