The upper is lined with leather and the insole is leather over cork, which takes the shape of the foot after a few wears. The heel is built up in layers rather than moulded, so a cobbler can replace the top piece when it wears down.

Sizes are EU. Measure your foot in the evening, standing, with your weight on it: stand on a sheet of paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, and measure between the marks. If your foot length falls between two sizes, choose the larger size.

US women's sizes run two sizes above UK, US men's one size above. Conversions are a guide and vary a little between makers, so use the foot length as the check.
- Wipe smooth leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth; condition occasionally to keep it supple.
- Brush suede with a dedicated suede brush and protect with a suede spray.
- Air dry away from direct heat or sunlight — never use a radiator.
- Use shoe trees or stuff with paper to hold the shape between wears.
- Rotate pairs to let the footbed recover and extend their life.

Solid construction and the sole has held up well through a wet autumn. The elastic feels slightly tight over thick socks but it is easing.

The leather has a rich depth of colour that only looks better after a bit of wear. Elastic panels hold snug without pinching and the silhouette is properly refined.
